How to play
Round, rough geodes sit in the bluff above the Mississippi as it flows past Keokuk. Swing your pickaxe to crack them open and the crystals inside pop out onto the board below. Tap groups of matching crystals to collect them and build a combo, and tap the rare ones, Sphalerite, Goethite and Millerite, to add them to your collection. Every match buys a little more daylight.
Click or tap a geode to swing the pickaxe, or press 1 to 4. Click or tap a group of two or more matching crystals to collect it, or use the arrow keys and Space. Tap a rare crystal to keep it. P pauses and M mutes.
Guide
Cracking geodes
PickaxeTap a geode on the bluff to swing the pickaxe. Each swing adds cracks. Most geodes break in two or three hits, and tougher ones show up as your run goes on.
Pop outWhen a geode splits, its crystals fly out and land on the board below. Cracking a geode also scores 50 points.
New geodesA fresh geode grows in the same spot right after one breaks, so there are always four to crack.
Matching crystals
GroupsTap any crystal that touches one of the same kind to collect the whole connected group. Bigger groups score much more: the score is the group size squared times 10, times your combo.
ComboCollect again within about two and a half seconds to raise the combo, up to x5.
Common crystalsQuartz, Calcite, Dolomite, Pyrite and Chalcedony. Each geode leans toward one or two kinds, so matches are easy to build.
Rare crystals
Rare findsAbout one geode in eleven hides a rare crystal, and it glows on the bluff before you crack it. Tap the rare crystal on the board to keep it.
ValuesSphalerite is worth 800 points, Goethite 1,500 and Millerite 3,000. Each one also adds 4 seconds, and your combo multiplies the score up to x3.
CollectionRare finds are saved on the title screen so you can fill out the set.
Daylight and game over
TimeYou start with 60 seconds. Matches add a little time and rare finds add more.
Full boardIf crystals pile up past the top of the board, the run ends. Keep collecting groups to make room.
